With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Macao SAR Government announced the entering of a state of immediate prevention and kicked off the fourth city-wide nucleic acid testing programme. Under the leadership of the management of the City University of Macau (CityU), staff members and students actively responded to calls made by the Government and the Education and Youth Development Bureau to take up roles in voluntary services at the testing station at the Parenting Education Centre (Lakeside), providing general guidance, on-site maintenance, registration, information, assistance in handling emergencies and logistical services. Together with all on-site personnel, CityU’s members were committed to help local community overcome difficulties and carried out their social responsibilities with actions.
Many of the CityU’s volunteers had participated in the previous city-wide nucleic acid testing programmes. These courageous COVID-19 fighters have fought against the virus on the frontline and dedicated their love and care to building walls to protect Macao as their family, devoting a part of CityU’s contributions in the battle against the COVID-19 virus.
We would like to express a heartfelt gratitude to all staff and students who have participated in the fourth round of the mass nucleic acid testing in Macao. Thank you for your kindness and passion for serving the community during hardship. At the same time, we would like to pay respect to all courageous volunteers and frontline fighters in this battle. Thank you for being so dedicated to safeguarding the community.
Calls
We urge all students and staff to take COVID-19 preventive measures introduced by the SAR government, get vaccinations as soon as possible, reduce mobility, maintain good health self-management, and seek medical consultation once feeling unwell.
Stay strong, Macao! We are confident that Macao will be safe in this battle under the umbrella of all sectors of the community, support from all Macao residents and the selfless dedication of the volunteers.
