Starting the New Academic Year in the New Campus CityU Warmly Receives Students

The first academic year after CityU has moved into the new campus begins! Freshmen of CityU underwent registration during this week. In this new campus, freshmen and new leaders brought new look to CityU and every task was carried out systematically.

In August, with the massive support from the MSAR Government, CityU officially moved into the new campus in Taipa which was previously used by the University of Macau. The new campus occupies a total area of approximately 38,000 m2. Thanks to the continuous effort of the General Affairs Office and other supporting staff during this summer, CityU further integrated resources of all faculties and campuses. We are devoted to establishing a better campus, and building and providing more facilities to students so as to welcome them with a brand new CityU.

8th September was the busiest day for student registration. In the morning, Rector Shu Guang Zhang and Vice Rector Kong Fanqing inspected on-site to learn more about freshmen registration. Although parents and students no longer have to bear the scorching summer heat in September, our considerate staff still prepared cold drinks for them. Rector Zhang extended his sincere gratitude to both teaching and administrative staff for their hard work of preparing for the new academic year and new campus. He also expressed his wish that freshmen can live happily and learn more in this new campus. Freshmen were thrilled to meet Rector Zhang and Vice Rector Kong, and took pictures with them together. Some students even shouted with excitement, “We are really lucky!”

In the afternoon, Rector Zhang examined dormitories under the escort of Head of the Student Affairs Office Zhou Pin Qiu. Rector Zhang welcomed students to join this loving family of CityU. He hoped that students will lead a successful college life in CityU after leaving their parents from afar for the first time, and fall in love with this gardenlike school surrounded by a beautiful sea and mountains

In order to provide more transportation options to the students and teachers, Rector Zhang, the Secretary General of the Council of the CityU Robert Chan and the Director of the Administrative Division of the CityU So Kam Hung paid a visit to the Transport Bureau of the Macao (DSAT) earlier this month and reached consensus concerning further enhancing public transportation services of the new campus with the Director of DSAT Lam Hin San. The new academic year will begin soon. With a spacious and appropriate campus, CityU is well prepared for all students. CityU will become better and better with a new campus and a new start.
