The Zhen Cheng Cabinet was sworn in recently at the Ninth inauguration ceremony of the City University of Macau Students’ Association. Cabinet members took the oath under the administration of Acting Rector Kong Fanqing and Chan Iok Wai, Acting Deputy Director of the Higher Education Bureau. The new cabinet will uphold the school motto, act in accordance with the mission and lead Students’ Association and the societies in striving for a better future.
Principal Kong Fanqing first congratulated students of the City University of Macau on winning the champion and the Best Style Award in the Knowledge Competition of National Education. She encouraged the Students’ Association, which represented all students, to uphold the school motto of “Virtue, Knowledge and Practice”, pass on the CityU spirit manifesting “knowledge will help on to understand truth while virtue will enable on to set up a good example and to improve the world”, become a bridge that connect students and the University, promote patriotism and love for Macao, foster the concept of serving society and contribute to the social development of Macao. She also hoped that members of the Students” Association would set a good example by both excelling academically and demonstrating good conduct so that they would honor the reputation and contribute to the work of the Association.
Members of the Students’ Association and its societies were sworn in under the administration of Acting Rector and Acting Deputy Director Chan. The flag handover ceremony was also held. The new Chairman Chen Jiaqiang, President Tan Siyang, and Chief Supervisor Liao Yilin delivered speeches in turn. They stated that following the vision of “Home to Students, Glory of the School, Enhance Internal Abilities, Strengthen External Image”, the new Cabinet would serve the students wholeheartedly, willingly accept the supervision of all students and work relentlessly for the rights and interests of all students.
After the representatives of the affiliated societies of the Students' Association took the stage and took the oath together, the inauguration ceremony of the Zhen Cheng Cabinet of the CityU Students' Association came to a conclusion.
In recent years, CityU has made continued efforts to improve the learning and research environment. Under the guiding principles of providing student-oriented and learning-centered education, it strives to nurture students so that they will become the backbone of society by developing good personality, noble character, profound professional knowledge and high cultural quality. CityU strives to offer featured programs, pursue internationalization and integrate into the development strategy of the Greater Bay Area. All efforts will provide students with a broader development platform.
Li Yongle, Assistant from the Department of Education and Youth Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Cheang Pou Seong, Division Head from the Judiciary Police, Chan Wun San, Director from the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Lok Choi Chan, Director of Personal Banking of Bank of China Macau Branch, CityU Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei, Pro-Rector Robert Chan, Serena Lao, Director of Finance of CityU, as well as leaders of various departments of the University, teachers, representatives of the societies under the Students’ Association and representatives of the students’ associations of other Macao higher institutions attended the inauguration ceremony.
