City University of Macau (CityU Macau) Foundation and University Council held a 2021 joint meeting, hosted by Mr Lao Ngai Leong, Chairman of the Trust Committee of the Foundation, on 23 July. The list of members of the third City University of Macau Foundation was passed at the meeting and different work reports and plans were presented and approved. They included the Administrative Committee Report of the University Foundation, Report of the Standing Committee of the University Council, Work Report and Work Plan of the University, Financial Report and Budget of the University and Fiscal Committee Report of the Foundation.
Cintia Chan, Chairman of the Administrative Committee pointed out in the Work Report that the University had been able to recruit outstanding international teaching and management staff and continued to improve the operation and management of the University. In future, the University would work in line with the development strategy of the country, participate in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and pursue more diversified cooperation between Guangdong and Macao.
Rector Jun Liu gave a summary of the University’s work in 2020/2021, covering different areas such as management, teaching and development and presented a detailed report on the work plan for the new academic year. He said that the University had successfully held a series of activities to celebrate the anniversary of the University, gained recognition by different sectors, became one of the top 100 universities on the ShanghaiRanking's Ranking of Top Universities in Greater China and achieved a higher ranking in academic subjects, elevating the academic status of the University. The University had also promoted its research development by setting up a number of featured research centers and keeping up its efforts to build the research brand name of the University. In addition, it had promoted the comprehensive development of students and stepped up efforts at alumni affairs. In the future, the University would continue to pursue internationalization and strengthen cooperation with Mainland to increase academic influence, keep abreast of the times, enhance program development and improve the academic layout of the University, expand the scale of enrollment and raise the quality of students, strengthen research, strive for better rankings and academic reputation, cultivate and attract more talent, develop a strong and sustainable team and improve the governance system of the University.
Chui Sai Cheong, Chairman of University Fiscal Committee, spoke positively of the work of the Foundation and CityU Macau and said that the Foundation would manage its fund in a rigorous manner, place emphasis on sustainable development, continue to support the projects and development of CityU Macau to contribute to the sustainable development of Macao SAR and to the cultivation of talent for the country and Macao.
