CityU’s students visit Hengqin Cooperation Zone to explore new opportunities for entrepreneurship and innovation

To enhance faculty and students’ understanding of the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the U Ung Choi Kun Entrepreneurship and Career Centre at City University of Macau (CityU) recently organized the “Greater Bay Area Entrepreneurship and Career Study Tour – Hengqin Cooperation Zone” event. Lewis Chao Chan Chong, head of the Student Affairs Office, , led the delegation to four representative institutions in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin (Hengqin Cooperation Zone).
The delegation consisted of 30 faculty and student representatives, aimed at helping students gain firsthand knowledge of the urban infrastructure in the zone. They explored the trends of industrial development, employment services, and innovation and entrepreneurship policies in the area.
The trip was very productive. The delegation visited the smart job-seeking and employment company, Zhuhai Jike Zhida Network Technology Co., Ltd., where they jointly inaugurated the “Study Base for Entrepreneurship and Career”. They also toured the “Exhibition Hall of the Utility Tunnel in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin”, the Macao youth startup community operated by the Guangdong office of the Chinese Youth Advancement Association, and the Pien Tze Huang Museum, gaining insights into urban planning, shared entrepreneurial spaces, the history of traditional Chinese medicine, and modern innovative technological developments in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone. Students mentioned that the trip was rewarding and that they were able to learn about the startup journeys of businesses in the zone through dialogues with the entrepreneurs.
