CityU’s delegation visits Guangdong University of Finance and Economics to explore cross-border data research collaboration

 

Prof. Zhou Wanlei, vice rector of City University of Macau and dean of the Faculty of Data Science, led a delegation to Guangdong University of Finance and Economics (GDUFE) to visit and discuss cooperation in areas such as cross-border data sharing and economic data security with Vice President Zhang Kai. Both sides reached a broad consensus on jointly establishing experimental and collaboration platforms. The delegation toured GDUFE’s history museum and other facilities, gaining insights into its educational history, practices, and achievements.

 

Vice President Zhang Kai warmly welcomed the delegation and provided a detailed introduction to the university’s development in advanced disciplines, such as digital economy, economic information, and economic law. He expressed appreciation for the numerous activities and collaborative outcomes between the two universities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Digital Alliance. Prof. Wang Fangfang, dean of the School of Digital Economy, and Dr. Li Zhifeng from the Information Institute shared their university’s achievements in AI and data science, hoping for complementary advantages in industry-academia research, student training, and scientific research between the two institutions to enhance capabilities and standards.

 

Vice President Zhou Wanlei introduced the distinctive features and strengths of City University, elaborating on its achievements in data science, data security, and fintech, and expressed hope for finding in-depth cooperation opportunities. Zhang Weiguang, dean of the School of Information Science, and Zhu Tianqing, associate dean of the Faculty of Data Science, respectively presented their latest research and teaching accomplishments, suggesting systematic design and exploration of collaborative research in the field of cross-border economic data security.

 

 

Other GDUFE members attending the meeting were Wang Yuhui, director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office at; Deng Shibao, director of the Research Office; Duan Dan, sirector of the Alumni Office; Wang Limin, dean of the School of Information Science; Wang Qiang, deputy director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office. Wu Cheng, head of Office of Global Affairs at CityU also participated in the discussion.
