Associate Prof. Li S.Y Lectures on SPSS to Postgraduate Students of FITM and FED City U

FITM and FED City U recently organized SPSS lectures for postgraduate students of the two faculties facilitating their research competencies. As an important research instrument for postgraduate students, SPSS helps in the development of empirical research-based thinking and methods. Associate Prof. Li first discussed principles of statistics, then demonstrated SPSS application including validity and reliability, Descriptive Analysis, T test and F test,  factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and Chi-square through authentic test data.

Focused on the clarification and means selection of empirical research, Associate Prof. Li supplemented the lecture with examples, case studies and statements to provide a complete context of statistical analysis.

SPSS is a widely used program for statistical analysis in social science. It is also used by market researchers, health researchers, survey companies, government, education researchers, marketing organizations, data miners, and others. The original SPSS manual  has been described as one of "sociology's most influential books" for allowing ordinary researchers to conduct their own statistical analysis. In addition to statistical analysis, data management, case selection, file reshaping, creating derived data, and data documentation are features of the software which are highly valued by prominent internationally published journals.
